Work in Progress

This is the painting I am working on at the moment. In the left hand corner you can see the fabric that I am struggling with. I am still working out how to suggest the pattern without getting too involved in the details. I have had this  piece of fabric for a while - was just waiting until I had the courage to tackle it. The painting in the background is one I did of my husband a couple of years ago - have not managed to get him to sit still for another one.

  1. I love those pink flowers against the green background. Just wonderful! The pattern is great! I am sure you will work it out beautifully!

  2. Looks like you have a great start. That detailed pattern would be hard to duplicate, for sure, but maybe you can capture the essence of it. Good luck!

  3. Great start on a very complicated piece. I have been learning that with detailed patterns, you can establish your colours and shadows first, and then suggest the pattern afterwards. Its that old squinting thing. You want to be able to make out the general shapes of the jar, flowers, and fabric, and the pattern is secondary.(This is what I've been reading anyway!)
