In a Hat

The portrait group I joined met again last night and I struggled with this one. I think if I had stopped at the two hour mark I might have been happier. Parts I am very pleased with, and some areas I wish I had pushed further - sometimes three hours is too much time and sometimes just not enough.

  2. So you struggled with this one? I think it's really good. Seriously, I think it is now my favourite portrait from the past couple of months. Weird how that works eh?

  3. Hi Tammy
What you see and what I see in this case are two different things. I think it's fantastic!

  4. I love the simplicity here. Your limited palette gives the portrait a timeless feel, and it also brings out a quiet character for your subject!

  5. I have to agree with everyone else, Tammy. Wonderful feel to this portrait. Sometimes when we struggle so much we fail to see how wonderful the results really are.

  6. Thanks everyone. Now that I look at it I am starting to see the merits more than the flaws - was maybe too close to it and had to let it sit in order to appreciate it.

  8. Tammy, I have to agree that this is one of my favorites. I think it is the simplification of shadow and light along with the muted palette...great job!

  9. Wow Tammy..doing a children's book. What a fun thing to do, especially with a young one in the house. The shark picture is priceless.
Great composition in this portrait I love the value contrasts:white collar against dark sweater, strong shadow areas.
