Here is my effort from last night's portrait group session. I found this fellow a real challenge to paint, but finally ended up with a fairly good likeness of him.
This is beautiful, Tammy! This is palette knife, correct? I love the details you achieve with them! He reminds me a bit of Raymond Burr in his Ironside series.
Thanks Autumn! This is done with a palette knife. I start with a quick sketch using a brush and then plunge ahead with a knife. The details just start to happen as the paint builds up. You are right - he does kinda look like Raymond Burr - I will have to tell him.
Another super portrait. And I agree with the other comments. Its amazing that you can get such detail with thick paint and a knife. Very unique looking.
Tammy..it was so nice to meet you today on the Leslie Saeta's Artists' Conference Call..it was a good one too huh?. I am equally pleased that i have now been introduced to your work...it is great...so loose and fresh! Really looking forward to following your work.
Beautiful work! I have just bestowed upon you the Sunshine Award for creativity and positivity in blogging! Check out my blog if you would like to accept your award.

ReplyDeleteVery nice painting. And I love that you did it with a palette knife. He looks like an interesting fella.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome, Tammy...one of your best, I think. Do you do a lot of your work with a palette knife?
ReplyDeleteOk...I'm already blown away that you paint such great likenesses with a palette knife. But to do it from LIFE??? You are amazing!
